ABOUT ME..
After I completed a fine art foundation year at Wimbledon Art College, I went to The University of Leeds to take a BA in History of Art. After university, I began my working life in fashion where I worked as a design assistant and print designer. I learnt about the infinite creative possibilities that fabric, print, colours, and textures can offer, it was brilliant!
Setting up Black Line Design House was a natural progression from my first hand experience of the refurbishment of my family’s business in Kensington. My ideas, designs and subsequent interaction with architects, builders and decorators convinced me that I should follow my heart and talent and retrain as an interior designer. I studied at the highly regarded KLC school of design in Chelsea which was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed and only amplified my ambition to open my own business. Whilst developing Black Line Design House, I worked at a leading upholsterer and soft furnishings company, where I learnt a lot about bespoke furniture, as well as gained a great insight into the world of interiors, as I worked alongside interior designers to bring their creations to life.
My time at KLC also reignited my love of drawing, as my hand-drawn renderings and interior illustrations were very well received. Now I am taking commissions to draw people’s houses to give as gifts or to celebrate a special day. I am also currently working on bespoke Christmas cards and other gift ideas. I have also been commissioned to illustrate a chain of boutique hotels and have recently completed a row of pretty Australian beach huts which made a lovely change.
MY APPROACH AS YOUR INTERIOR DESIGNER..
I value my clients above all, therefore, I offer a complimentary initial consultation to discuss your project and ideas to see if I would suit your needs. If you were to hire me as your interior designer, I would work closely with you in order to interpret your ideas and eventually bring them to life. It’s my job to listen and ask the right questions in order to gain your trust and deliver exactly what you are looking for. Whilst offering you my professional expertise and introducing elements of design that you might not have considered, I can bring the project to a realistic and meaningful conclusion.
I prefer a more traditional approach, choosing pen and paper over computer generated images to bring my clients’ aspirations to life. I find that hand-drawn designs and renderings offer a more sensitive representation of the project and its personality, and helps stimulate the imagination.
I am a very personable and conscientious person, which, along with my creativity, works well in the world of interiors. It would be great to hear from you to discuss your plans or ideas!
